- Inspected on arrival by Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) biosecurity officers
- If contamination is found, the vehicle is cleaned at your cost in NZ before release
Ask your exporter to provide a cleaning certificate and photographs. A dirty vehicle can face quarantine and steep cleaning fees at the NZ border.
Step 6: Shipping to New Zealand
Japan loading ports: Nagoya, Yokohama, Osaka. NZ destination ports: Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch (Lyttelton), Tauranga. Transit time: approximately 18–25 days. RoRo is most common. Container shipping is also available and provides better protection for high-value vehicles.
